Re: [ARKHAM EVENT] WW2 MINI-CON - 10am-5pm Saturday 20th November 2010
I shall hopefully be able to switch some shifts to make it down and play some SoTR or conflict of heroes, or maybe I could be persuaded to play FoW, I am on the lookout for my next game system afterall!
Also a club project sounds pretty cool!

For Stalingrad (And who isn't inspired by that name?) you'll need the Mid War book Eastern front, (Or the older Ostfront, which is still tournament legal.) I also have the old Stalingrad book.
River of Heros, Stalin's Onslaught and Hammer and Sickle are all based on operation Bagration, which also has a campaign game.

Any one got a 3" hex grid? Have a 'Bombers over Germany' game that requires one.
Oh, it needs to be 8' by 5' too.

The biggest undertaking with a Stalingrad board in 15mm is building a new board. Maybe a Stalingrad skirmish using RoE woud be more achievable this year.

Building a board like that is a big undertaking, if the mini con is a success maybe we can plan it for next year . Means those of us without fow armies can think about taking part .

EVENT for WW2 MINICON - Memoir '44 - Disaster At Dieppe
added to first post...
[Memoir '44 - Disaster At Dieppe]
(An Overlord Scenario and Battlemap)
GM - twyearling (Gary)
2 to 6 players
A raid on the German-occupied coastal town of Dieppe, Operation Jubilee was intended to demonstrate the Allies capacity to seize and hold a major port for a short while. The Canadians sent in just couldn't imagine how short their stay would be...
The landing beach was a mile long, with headlands at both ends and barbed wire across its entire length. At first, enemy fire was light, letting the landing troops - Essex Scottish Regiment on Red Beach and the Hamilton Light Infantry on White Beach - make it through a first row of wire and toward the sea wall with only minor losses. But tanks from the 14th Canadian Tank Battalion had not arrived ahead of the infantry landings as planned; and once landed, they could not get any traction on the loose beach pebbles. To make things worse, the men of the Royal Regiment landing on Blue Beach near Puys arrived late. They were pinned on the beach, unable to move west and take the eastern headlands before the main assault. The Germans, now on full alert, swept the exposed Canadian forces. Control of the Casino and surrounding pillboxes sea-sawed back and forth but to no avail. Four hours after landing, the Allied commanders were forced to call a retreat, leaving almost 60% of the men who'd landed killed, wounded or captured! The lessons learned from this debacle were painful, but were of considerable help in preparations for the landings in Normandy, two years later.

OK folks, this is only a couple of weeks away now. Press release has been distributed around all newspapers and TV stations so should get a big turnout. With re-enactors on site, it should be a great day...and remember it's for charity!
I've edited the first post in the topic to list all those who have already, very kindly, stepped forward to run something on the day. Could those people please check they are still available (let me know ASAP if not) and either post up or email me details of what they'll be running.
If anyone else is up for helping by running a game for the day, please step forward, it'll be very much appreciated. I'd especially love to hear from anyone who's willing to organise some role-play based on 'Allo 'Allo
Your gaming centre needs you - this is a big opportunity to put Arkham on the map
Please mention to friends and family - it'll be great family day out, and will have much broader appeal than just gamers.

Wittmans Wild Ride
Michael Wittman rampaged around Villiers-Bocage single handedly in his Tiger tank, taking British forces unaware as they made a 'brew'.
Can you recreate the carnage of Wittman's 'Wild ride', 10 turns of utter mayham, and whoever does the most damage before the end of the day wins a prize (TBC.) Fast play single player action. (3-4 games an hour)
The Germans are coming!
France 1939 and the German Blitzkrieg is heading towards the river Meuse, can the armour of the French stem the tide of German armour heading their way or will the German warmachine recreate history?
2 -8 player Armour clash

Just to confirm I will definitely run some COH. I got the Polish expansion today and will try a couple of scenarios to find something suitable in the run up to the event. Is their a deadline for a blurb?
